Seeing her for the first time on the show was definitely ironic for me... after knowing what political and personal, yet very *PUBLIC* views she carries, I was shocked to find her on this show that is a common favorite among conservatives (this part is no shock though). 24 is about doing what is necessary, absolutely necessary -- in dire straights, for the greater good, otherwise dramatic and vast consequences of unfathomable thinking would occur... it strikes me as contradictory to see her even agree to doing the show, even in her character's limited role... she still got to shout off about racial profiling, which I'm sure she thinks she was brought in for... It's almost like she agreed to be on the show is part of some sort of political fight for her, knowing what audiences 24 reaches out to... I'm at a loss really, over what the producers or casting agents were thinking.

All's I gotta say, we all know Chloe is el numero uno forever!! so, if in this season alone, they can kill Larry Moss, who was turning out to be a fantastic character, leader and role model, over which I'm still upset about losing, I can foresee and fully understand if Janis would somehow either be killed off, or fired in her "analytical" position. Both in real-life, and in acting, she doesn't fit the 24 mold... anyways, that's my .02.

Cheers

"I am not a US Citizen, I barely know about Garofalo's statement, and barely understand it. And from that point of view I can see that you hate the activist but condemn the actress. Seriously and impartially, she is not Chloe, shes not even close to Chloe's ankles, but, if you don't have (like me) any idea about her real life statements or activities, you just simply ignore her. She is not a great character but she is also not every thing posted in this thread, she just pass (and I think it is clear that she is not replacement for Chloe in the script). So I suggest to keep the political argue in the political forums and try to avoid this subject in the 24 forum. Just a suggestion.

PS: Anyway if she by any means uses her appearance in the show to reinforce their political messages, she deserves every single comment on this page.

My 2 cents."
She deserves every comment -- it's not just Tea protesting she's being called out on; she's been a long time loudmouth and radical for the left. Rationally, I don't have a problem with actors that are for certain causes, such as Almeida and Chloe for global warming, but it depends on the extremes they take their cause, ie: neither of these two are the kind of loudmouth that Jeanne is.

The only thing about actors that makes themselves think they're special is they have an opportunity, given their status, to get their message across to a wider audience easier, than say you or I the lowly fan that wants to speak our mind... I may post something on youtube, but who would watch it simply by recognizing my name? Probably no one. This is the obvious advantage actors have -- again, I don't have a serious problem with it so long as they are rational going about it, and don't take it to extremes... "okay, you got your point across... thank you, I respect that. Next topic?" but when someone like Garofalo *continues* to spew hate, enoughs enough.

"Just a reminder; please do not post in all uppercase. You can get your point across without using all uppercase. In internet terms, using uppercase is considered a form of "shouting." It affects other members on this Wiki.

Also, this is a thread about the character/actress. Be careful of your posts and bashing, some of you are treading a very fine line."
Respectfully hotchafan, I don't believe this reminder was necessary as I didn't see a post in "all uppercase" nor have I seen one yet in this thread... I find that a 'reasonable' mixing of lowercase and uppercase does in fact assist in bringing one's point across, say a ratio of 2:1 or 3:1. Especially in a debate or discussion about something close to the heart, reasonable mixing is acceptable. Believe me, I know a lot of folks that do what you're talking about and it irks me beyond words can say when they type their whole conversation like that, almost ignorantly. I think as an active member of the forums, I would or others would bring attention to the culprit doing this type of shouting... but once again, a reasonable mix would be truer to in-person conversations.... many times I've started off my discussion with lowercase, and then accentuated the parts where I'd actually raise my voice during an in-person discussion with uppercase -- notably though, I think that being this is a Wiki, while I'm happy to finally see the newly added "Edit my post" feature that is now employed, the fact that there is no editing features beyond that makes it difficult... such as *bold*, /italics/ etc... these would replace I think the uppercase where a bold might be, for example. These editing features are what I find ironic to *not* see in a so-called "Wiki", which by definition is a contradictory theme. Heck, even regular old forums have more advanced editing features... Something to think about I'd stress.

As a US citizen I respect everyone's opinion. However, when a peron starts spewing vile comments about the people who disagree with them my blood pressure starts to rise. Garofalo is a hate monger and the worst of all hypocrites. Yet this very vile person is put on a TV show that I enjoy watching. And I will express my opinion openly She cannot act and is totally unbelieveable on the show. So why is she on the show? Please producers don't bring her back next season. If she is brought back I may no longer watch the show along with many others. My 2 cents, Garofalo is not an actress nor an activist. She is just an angry woman that craves attention. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

You didn't see the posts in all uppercase as it was deleted. A reasonable mixing of lower/upper case is fine to make one's point. Posting an entire thread in all uppercase is considered "shouting" and I get complaints, hence the reminder.

I think the producers of 24 are embarrassed by their fan base. They accidentally made a show that appealed to the wrong people politically. I don't think they had any idea how popular the show would be with the conservative nation. So, in order to appease all their friends in Hollywood and the liberal establishment, they hire Garofalo and preach to us about global warming. And that's just a start. It's sad really. They are bending over backwards for approval from people who had absolutely nothing to do with the popularity of the show and thumbing it in the face to the fans who did. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Great oberservation. I believe you are entirely correct. What is wrong with conservatives they seem to think they need EVERYONE'S approval? All we can do is have faith the 24 producers have a back bone and will not give in to the liberal Hollywood establishment. However, it is beyond me why they choose a woman that cannot act and has such a vile mouth as Garofalo. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

This is a great point -- They do seem to be making an attempt to entertain that part of Hollywood, which is as you know, larger than the conservative part of the town.

Did anyone catch what Janis said last night? "Why don't you just admit you were wrong!?" -- I wrote in the episode thread that I thought this is what we finally see that she was brought on for. It's no secret that the quoted statement has been a slogan for her activist activities -- I swear, she had her agent or somebody guarantee in her contract that she'd get to say something like that or she wouldn't have agreed to be on the show... amongst the previous racial profiling remark she made last week...

Yes, that's the best job for Janeane...cleaning toilets, including her own mouth. She is a disgusting human being, and no one like her should ever have a part on a show about American Heros, saving America!! Why would "Jack" allow her on this show? Is he the cowboy-American loving hero that we have been waiting for? Allowing Janeane on the show now makes me wonder.... 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I am a Tea Party Organizer. On 2 weeks preparation, in a little town in CA in the Central Valley, I had 400+ people show up for our Tea Party! There were blacks, hispanics, whites and a few other nationalities that I am not sure of....possibly East Indian.
It was so sucessful, that people were asking me when we could set the next Tea Party. Janeane can call us all "Tea Baggers" and I did not even know that that had a sexual connotation. I had to look it up on the web...now I know...and isn't it funny that she would know that term so well? Do you suppose she is that kind of Tea Bagger? Hee-Hee!! I betcha!

Wake up Pedro and smell the beans! Garafolo is a nasty mouthed female (?) and has no place on a show that depicts American heros. I know that "24" is just a TV show, but whether you know it or agree with it, we do have "agents" like Jack and they would never put up with someone like "Janis". I cannot watch this show until she is taken out! I have been a fan from the beginning but with the Green spots and Janeane's toilet mouth, I am done until I hear she is gone! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

She admitted that she "had to think about it, but took the 24 job because she needed a job". Is that a surprise. There are a lot of people in this country think it's cool to talk filth, instead of fact. They live and thrive on the "F" word and cannot speak without using it in a sentence about 5 times. That somehow makes them think they are cool....?? Even obama had to use the reference to the "F" word in his correspondence dinner "speech" when referring to Rhom Emmanuel! Our President! I would love to see the Ugly Sean Penn disappear from America!
What a jerk! He needs to go live with Hugo for about 50 yrs.!
Wouldn't we all love that? Susan, hell, who listens to that crazy person? She's water under the bridge...a has-been! Clooney, he's a joke! He has made his fortune on his face and probably hopes to make it into politics the same way. They all should sit down, read the constitution, (understand it) and understand how and why America came to be the wonderful country that made them rich and famous! Would it be too much for them to use their brains, rather than their mouths?

Unfortunately, after Ms. Garofalo spat out the racial profiling remark, the producers then had Jack say she was right but we have special circumstances ... blah blah blah. Why in God's name did he not put her down? The producers are going Hollywood left along with the 'Global Warming" ditties, oops 'Climate Change", oops "Clean Energy" oh what oh what will they name it next??? This is off topic somewhat (sorry in advance) but I loved 'Nothing But The Truth" a close resemblance of the CIA Valerie Plame outing, but they have a "Right Wing Extremist" take her out?? You've got to be kidding!!!!

Yes, she is a spiteful woman with a nasty mouth....that makes you an actress or commedian? Only in the "People's Republic of Hollywood". If given a script, some of these people can act; if not, all they can rely on is their nasty mouths! That's entertainment...only in some cultures. Not in mine! Do you find this valuable?
