Here's a refreshing point: I think everyone here is sane and has far many more good points than the writers of 24 do, themselves.

Annie, that you knew little of Garafolo kind of makes my point - the less you knew about her, the easier it was for you to accept her as Janis Gold. Many others of us knew a lot about her (she's been a loud-mouthed liberal activist for a long, long time. She was partners with Al Franken on the ill-fated, bankrupt and long-gone liberal radio network, Air America, and as such she was free to espouse her uber-liberal and hate-filled views for many hours a day.) That's how come we know so much about her. And why she was a miserable choice for the role.

My dad was like yours; he killed Germans in WW2 and never lost a wink. But was very compassionate to the Germans while he was there during the post-war years, particularly during the Berlin Airlift. He considered his work in the Big Lift the finest thing he'd done.

To critique 24 a bit, contrast Jack with Olivia. They both killed people, but the difference is that Jack did it to save lives; Olivia did it for personal revenge. Very different things.

@ 24fan: Yeah, it's all unbelievable, but I don't think that gives them carte-blanche to alter the reality of very observable things (such as the spinal tap, et al). The producers are just dumb - and lazy.

I swear, season 8 is going to have Jack wake up and it all be a dream - ala Dallas. :-)

" “tea bagging, red neck racists with neurological disorders” on national television is offensive on so many levels. "
WHOA!!!!!!!! WHOA!!! I knew she spoke out against but I never bothered to read the details. She said that?!?! That is insane.

@bdplaid, yea after seeing what Garofalo said I am shocked. I mean... there are good and bad people on both sides of the political spectrum and the fact that she singled out tea baggers and insulted them so harshly in a gross generality is extremely offensive. I mean, I've seen a lot of the photos and the signs tea baggers held and some where very very witty, clever, poignant, and others were a bit offensive, or small-minded. There is good and bad in everything, including liberals, and Garofalo is definitely a part of the very very bad liberals group.

Saying this with respect, could I ask that those involved with the "tea parties" not be referred to as "teabaggers?" Garafalo did that, using that term specifically. It refers to a gross sexual act. Look it up in wiki for more info. I had to.

Please understand I mean nothing against you, Annie. I assume you just didn't know. So, Garafolo's comments are probably worse than you even thought they were.

And I appreciate your comments. Keep them coming! ;-)

Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't even link the two! I actually did once learn of the act but it isn't a daily vocab of mine so I didn't even see the connection. Oh grrrrr I hate her.

I don't think it's "done. Give Jack a break...he is human like the rest of us. It would be unrealistic for a person to be several hours away from dying and to still maintain this aura of invulnerability.
Next season he will have recovered from his fatal infection. It is quite unrealistic to believe that a bone marrow transplant or whatever he will undergo will reverse his illness in several hours. The location of his spinal tap in the upper back was quite unrealistic and should have resulted in paralysis.

How did the White House walls recover so quickly from the afternoon attack? By the evening all was looking normal. Jack will come back better than ever.

I culdn't have said it better myself AnnieCon. I think we got too spoiled having Jack a certain way and 'always' being the hero, but 'always' putting the United States first and foremost - no matter what. I found it refreshing last year with Garafolo. It through some mustard into the mix. I cannot wait until season 8!! WooHoo!! Do you find this valuable?

You flag-waving righties make me sick! The US deserves to be the bad guy. They've earned it by sticking their nose in other countries business instead of focusing on problems we have at home. Huge sums of money now going to the corrupt military industrial complex would be better spent solving our critical problems in Health Care, Education, Polution, etc. That's the way to strengthen this country and prepare it to face any future problems, military or otherwise.
As far as Garofalo is concerned, I think she's great!
